Today, I wore three different outfits:
I started out in outfit one, and then felt that the jumper was a bit big and my shirt didn't really look right, so I changed into outfit two as I'd gotten almost all my clothes out this morning and this red shirt was sat on my bed. Then, I quite liked the way it looked so I thought I'd photograph that too. Then, I found a big hole under the arm of the shirt and in a search for something comfortable, went for my favourite Brand New shirt, which was what I wore for the rest of the day. I was a bit worried about the whole leather-skirt-leather-jacket thing, but I actually quite like it. But for the sake of this post, let's just pretend I only wore the second outfit.

Taking photos today was hard. Very hard. It's hard to smile and take photos of yourself and look happy when you just don't like the way you look at the moment. I put on 9 pounds this summer and have 11 to lose to get back to where I like to be. I know it's going to take me a few weeks, which is frustrating, but I know I'll get there. After weeks and weeks of travelling and eating whatever was put in front of me or easily accessible, it's nice to go back to doing my own shopping and cooking and having control over what I'm eating. I also massively need my hair redoing. It's not really any colour and the ends are really, really gross and it just needs a trim. You might notice, however, that I'm wearing slightly different eye makeup than usual. I am more than a little bit in love with my Urban Decay Smoked palette and I'm enjoying having fun with my makeup. I want to start wearing eyeshadow more frequently and while I'm a really novice with makeup, I'd like to bring more makeup to my blog. I'm really hoping to branch out over the next few months with more makeup, more recipes and more lifestyle topics. I've done a few recipes here and there but I do love to cook and I'd love to share that passion with you. And they're all going to be healthy recipes while I'm trying to lose weight too! I actually just made these tamale pies for dinner with roasted broccoli and made some of this healthy nutella as a snack for with ryvitas or yoghurt!
Since I got back on Thursday I've kinda been in a bit of a bad place. I was excited to come home and I am glad to be home, but being home means coming back to reality, which means finding a job. I've started looking and it's tough but I'm feeling confident at the moment. I know I have to put my heart and mind into looking and just try to keep positive and keep pushing myself. I'm just such a busy person that the idea of sitting at home all day doing nothing is driving me crazy! I plan on filling my time at the moment by doing lots of swimming and walking, lots of cooking and catching up on all those silly little things I've "not had time" to do over the last few months. I know things will get easier, but it's hard right now. I remember Michelle going through the same thing, along with thousands of other grads. It's hard coming back from four months away to find everyone already has jobs and while I've had an amazing summer with amazing experiences, I have to get back to reality!
I was nervous about going back to blogging after a month off. Really nervous. But it's actually been nice to get back into a routine. It's been nice to get dressed up even when the only time I left the house was to go for a walk and to the supermarket. I've missed blogging. I meant to blog yesterday but I found I had a piece of my tripod missing and it's kinda broken without it so I had to go buy a new one, which was really annoying! But I'm hoping now, for the time being, I'll be back to posting on a regular basis. It's good to be back!

Ah you mentioned me haha :) I know how you feel. I'm still trying to lose 10 pounds I gained over six months too -- we should be work out buddies. Keep each other accountable or something. I remember being so excited/nervous about finding a job. I hope you find something (I will fully admit that sometimes seeing other people get jobs -- even in different countries!-- sends me into a spiral of anxiety and disappointed feelings, but alas, that's life, eh?) and I know you will, because you're Charlotte & you get stuff done. :)ReplyDelete

And hooray for the smoked palettes! I just got mine too and I've been experimenting with eye shadows. I'm hoping to get better at it relatively quickly since I've never really done any fancy shadow shaping, layering or anything before now. It's exciting!
