I know what you did last Wednesday...

So I mentioned a few days ago that I had exciting news. If you follow me on Facebook or Twitter, well, I kinda gave the game away. I'd been trying to organise work experience for a couple of weeks at a local newspaper, and on Monday I finally made contact. I was asked if I would like to go along to shadow a fashion shoot on Wednesday. Would I ever?!

So I spent the next two days trying to decide what to wear, choosing and dismissing what felt like a million different outfits, before finally settling on this little floral peplum dress (which I've had since I was 18 or 19), with my little boy blazer, turquoise ankle socks and pink mary janes...

Then I headed off to Manchester!! I met Diane, who I was working with, and we talked about my blog and my experience and what I wanted to do. She said she'd read my blog and loved it, which was amazing!! She also said she loved my photography and was really interesting in my 30 for 30 challenge!!

Then we walked down to Manchester Town Hall, where the shoot was taking place. I'd never been inside the building before and it is absolutely stunning. The shoot featured Miss Manchester and took place at  with clothes from a local designer. The hair and makeup were stunning and Nicola, Miss Manchester, was absolutely gorgeous. She'd never modeled before and entered the competition on a whim, but she was such a natural. I spent most of the time helping out the photographer- standing in for Nicola so he could get the lighting right and an idea about the heights (I obviously wasn't as glamorous a stand-in though!!) and holding up the little flash umbrella for him, but it was so awesome to actually be on a photoshoot. I decided against bringing my camera (and instantly regretted it- especially as the photographer and Diane asked if I'd brought it- damn!!), but I did grab a couple of shots on my iPhone...

I had a really great day helping out. I can't wait to see the results from the shoot!! I have some dates that I will hopefully be going to do some more work experience at the Manchester Evening News, and there is also a chance that I might be able to do some writing for them too, which would be amazing!! I had such a wonderful experience today and it really gave me a glimpse into what I really want to do. Just have to keep working hard and hopefully one day I'll get there.

Well, back on 30 for 30 tomorrow. Today has been a long day and I'm super-tired (with achey feet!!), so I shall be curling up, watching TV and skyping my gorgeous boyfriend!!

Hope your day was as wonderful and exciting as mine!!
