Outfit Favourites: November- December

Girl next door fashion is two years old at the end of December, so to celebrate I'll be looking back on my favourite outfits from the last year. You can see my outfit favourites from December and January here, and February and March here, April and May here, June, July and August here, September here and October here

apologize that I haven't been about much the last few days. It was my Grandad's funeral yesterday and I've just kinda been out of the world in a lot of ways. I am so behind on everything! I did write a really long and self-absorbed post about the year today, but my head is just kinda muddled so I decided not to post it. I doubt I'll do a post summing up the year now. I think I want to look forward and not backwards. This is probably going to be my last post of the year- I might just post tomorrow to extend my giveaway and about sponsorship- but hopefully next week I'll be able to get back into the swing of things.
Here are some quite recent outfits, but some of my favourites...

I contemplated not including this, but I really loved turning a summery dress into something perfect for autumn.

This is one of my favourite outfits, but it wasn't quite appropriate for a cold November day!

Wow, I feel like I've said this about every outfit, but this is another absolute favourite. I love the juxtaposition of knit and sparkles.

I was kinda obsessed with red and maroon in October and November (as you can tell from these outfits!) and I love this polka dot blouse. This midi skirt is one of my favourite things too.

This was such a simple outfit but one I really, really like. I've gotten into wear jeans a lot more this year which has been an evolution. Dressing up jeans is quite a challenge but I think when done well they can look so sophisticated.

I have gotten really into layering shirts under dresses- I have loads more outfits like this lined up- and I really, really love the way it looks. I love leopard and mustard together.

Oh how I love my hair curly. I am so crazy about this vintage dress- I can't wait to wear it more.

Finally, my Boxing Day outfit. The blazer and shirt were christmas presents and I love the detachable sequin collar. These shorts are one of my favourite pieces in my wardrobe- they're so versatile!

Outfit Favourites: October

Girl next door fashion is two years old at the end of December, so to celebrate I'll be looking back on my favourite outfits from the last year. You can see my outfit favourites from December and January here, and February and March here, April and May here, June, July and August here and September here.

October was obviously when I started to get obsessed with wearing red...

4th October
I can't remember what my original inspiration was for this outfit, but I absolutely love the combination of nude and maroon, and it's a great way to use all the nude pieces I went crazy over last summer for autumn.

5th October
Super chilled out outfit, but one I really love. I like these trousers- they are such a great alternative to black or blue jeans, and I love my converse- even though they don't match!

7th October
This is one of my favourite outfits, and I just felt so damn good in it. I love the fact that it's all monochrome, but the mix of prints and patterns keep it fun. I love these shoes especially with ankle socks.

11th October
Simple combination of browns here, but I love the mix of leopard and rust.

12th October
Again, another pretty simple outfit, but one I really like. I love this blouse and skirt, and think the beige from the spots works really well. I love these knee socks.

14th October
This is tied with the 7th October for my favourite outfit of the month. Lovelovelove the leather shorts, knit and check shirt, and again, I adore the shoes, tights and socks. I felt so hot in this.

18th October
Hey, it's that red Zara dress again! Love this dress, love the fairisle jumper, love the scarf. A perfect winter look.

19th October
Sian inspired me to layer this dress over a maroon top (I bought it when we were in London because she was wearing it and I loved it). I'd forgotten I had these maroon socks too!

28th October
This red midi skirt was a complete impulse buy, but isn't it fab? I have so many ideas for wearing this that I haven't had a chance to wear yet. I think it works so well with my Brand New tshirt and ankle boots.

Boxing Day

I feel like Boxing Day is the day where you have to wear at least one thing that you got for Christmas, so today I am wearing two new things. I saw this gorgeous dog-print blouse a few weeks ago in River Island but it was a bit pricey at over £30. But then, last week, I saw it down to £15 in the sale and text my Mum. I wasn't expecting to get it at all so it was a lovely surprise. I absolutely love it. The sequin collar is detachable, so I'm excited to try it on new things.

blouse- River Island
leather shorts- c/o Very.co.uk
wedges- New Look

And meet my new Zara blazer. It's the same as my mustard one, but obviously, in black. It's absolutely gorgeous and makes me feel so grown up. I was going to wear my new high-waisted Topshop jeans, but my Mum has the same pair and she's wearing hers today, so I went for my leather shorts again. I love the mix of textures.

Well, we're off to visit family friends in Leeds for the night, and I'm working tomorrow. I might be a bit quiet over the next few days. Like I said, I'm working tomorrow, and then Wednesday we have a mass for my Grandad in the evening, and Thursday is the funeral. It's gonna be a hard week.

Hope you're having a lovely break,

Charlotte xxx

Merry Christmas!

let's ignore that first S...

blouse- Oasis
shorts- c/o Very.co.uk
glittery shoes- Topshop

Just a quick post to say Merry Christmas and to show you what I wore today! I paired my new Christmas studded blouse with my favourite leather shorts and my amazing Christmas glittery shoes. Aren't they fabulous? I did very well this year and have lots of things to show you, some of my favourites include Topshop high-waisted jeans, a black Zara blazer, red ankle boots, cream fur jacket, River Island blouse, a new coat, new panda mug, the Style Diaries book, and from my Dad, the framed picture of my Manchester Evening News article (see above).

Today has been a bit difficult. I cried in church and it's just been a bit of a bittersweet day not having my Grandad here. Christmas dinner was very strange. I just still can't believe he isn't here. But there have been some great points today- breakfast with the extended family (a Crowley tradition), all my wonderful presents and best of all- our new family iPad! I've spent most of today amazed by how awesome it is, watching 4OD with my Dad and playing Monopoly with my Mum on it!

Thank you so much for all your amazing comments and support. I hope you've had a lovely day and a wonderful Christmas to those of you celebrating.

Christmas Eve

Well, here we are, it's Christmas Eve. I can't believe it's Christmas already. With everything that's been going  on the last week, I don't feel ready at all. Tomorrow is going to be strange. My grandparents always spend Christmas with us, and my Nana is in a home now. It's going to be strange not having my Grandad here for Christmas. We're going to try to make the most of it, but it's going to be a bit of a somber day.

Well, I thought I'd take some photos in front of our tree anyway. I didn't help put it up- I haven't felt too festive- but I thought it would be nice as a background. I had to change my lens a few times to take these- I felt dead professional! They're a little hazy and over-exposed because the tree is right in front of the conservatory, but I kinda like the effect.

dress- vintage from fancy treehouse
leather jacket- H&M
wedges- New Look
tights- Primark

I absolutely love this outfit, and after 3 days at work, I've been so excited to wear it. I bought this adorable vintage dress from the lovely Coury of Fancy Treehouse. I have been crazy about tartan dresses lately (I actually picked up this week's Grazia and Little Mix were all dresses in tartan dresses on the cover!) and as soon as I saw this dress I had to have it. I was so glad it arrived in time. Oh and hey, curly hair. My hairdresser curled my hair on Tuesday and I just loved it, but I can't curl my hair with GHDs to save my life. So, this morning I asked my Mum if I could open my Babyliss Curling Wand a day early, and she did my hair for me this morning. The wand is pretty easy to use but I've not gotten the hang of it yet myself!

Have a lovely Christmas, everybody.

Outfit Favourites: September

Girl next door fashion is two years old at the end of December, so to celebrate I'll be looking back on my favourite outfits from the last year. You can see my outfit favourites from December and January here, and February and March here, April and May here, and June, July and August here.

 1st September
Oh dear, my leg scars are SO attractive. This dress was sent to be by French Connection and I love the combination of turquoise and teal. I adore these shoes.

 6th September
This outfit was kinda a revelation for me. I had never worn a jumper over a dress before- now I do it all the time! I really love the mix of neutrals here. This is still one of my favourite outfits.

 13th September
Oh how I love this dress. If you've been reading for a few months, you will have seen this dress a lot. I also adore this collar.

Okay, I don't like to have favourites. But I think this might be my actual favourite outfit ever. I didn't think it would really work, but I absolutely love it. So many people thought it was a suit!

17th September
Lace, leopard and London. Loved this outfit, loved this day.

 19th September
If you'd have told me a few months, I'd be wearing mustard jeans, I probably wouldn't have believed you. They are so much more wearable than I expected. I love this outfit for a lazy weekend. And O HAI glasses!

22nd September
A pretty simple outfit, but something that I probably wouldn't have come up with myself if I'd not been inspired by Gwen. I think this might have been where my obsession with wearing a ridiculous amount of red in the fall started...

Outfit Favourites: June-July-August

Girl next door fashion is two years old at the end of December , so to celebrate I'll be looking back on my favourite outfits from the last year. You can see my outfit favourites from December and January here, February and March here, and April and May here.

My blog's birthday is actually today so happy two year anniversary girl next door fashion! However, I have work today and tomorrow, so I'll blog more about my blogaversary tomorrow, and I'm still behind on everything with, well, everything that's happened, so you still have a few more days of outfit favourites...

 6th June
Still love this outfit, still hate the socks. This was when I was fresh from San Francisco, and my outfit was everything I bought. I never shop in Urban Outfitters, but Michelle and I went in San Fran and I bought this top and skirt for $20 each in the sale. I have worn both the top and skirt countless times now. The little peter pan collar on this top is divine.

8th June
Erick's dad gave me this $3 vintage dress which he bought from Goodwill (where Erick used to work!) for Erick's Mum but got the wrong size. It is absolutely gorgeous. I really want to get it altered because it's a tiny bit too big, but I'm so scared of wrecking it! I got so into wedges and socks this summer, and I love this outfit.

26th June
Back in England now! This was the 9th day of my 30 for 30, and it was my cousin's First Communion, so I had to wear something a bit dressy. I'd never thought to pair turquoise tights with this dress, but I really liked it.

11th July
Oh I was so, so obsessed with orange and turquoise over the summer. I really love how this outfit could be so simple, but the accessories really make it. I'm not really a big accessories person, normally, but I really need to work them into my outfits more! Doing 30 for 30 was a great way to push myself more.

21st July
Another simple outfit from 30 for 30 that the accessories really make. I love me some leopard print.

25th July
I was getting pretty desperate in the last few days of my 30 for 30, so I tried out the whole dress-as-skirt thing, which I really love. Another way that 30 for 30 really pushed me.

1st August
I love print mixing, and had been desperate to try florals and stripes together. I really love this combination.

17th August
More colour-blocking over the summer, and again with leopard accents. This skirt was an absolute bargain in the Zara sale.

21st August
Another dress-as-skirt outfit, with pink wedges and pink lips. I really, really prefer autumn and winter style but this kind of outfit makes me nostalgic for summer.

When I chose this skirt from French Connection, I had no idea I would wear it as much as I do, but now I don't know how I coped without it. I absolutely love the mix of leather and pretty tulle.

Oh how I love this blazer. Oh I love it so much. It's such a gorgeous colour. I really love the combination of turquoise and mustard with the leopard belt. I am also wearing leopard shoes, which you can't see here.

31st August
And the lace dress is back again! I miss my denim jacket in the winter. It really screams summer, but I would really like to try it in the winter. This is a perfect summer outfit for me. I also loved the taupe wedges and striped socks I wore with this outfit too.
