Not Too Shabby

Today I realised I didn't pack one single pair of white socks. Not one pair. I also didn't pack any bracelets, but that's a different story. Anyway, if you follow me on Twitter you might remember the complete mental breakdown I had trying to decide between this dress and this one. I am awful at making decisions and I could not decide. It was driving me insane. I was just about to order the white one, my family had all said the white one, but then I changed my mind. See, I already have two white dresses (this one and this one edit: Woah. It's just sold out in cream. Thank god I asked my Mum to order it this week- 5 months in advance! I must be psychic!), and I'm getting another for my graduation (this one), plus, the only remixes for a white dress I could think of (and could create using the clothes I have here) were with a leather jacket, denim jacket, and red cardigan. All of which I have done. So I went for the navy, and I'm so glad I did. As soon as it arrived I just adored it. The colour, the length, the style. It's so classy. The actual deciding factor was seeing this outfit on Reagan's Blog.Whenever I consider something new and I'm unsure, I do a google search to try to find other bloggers wearing it. There were no results for the white, but I loved the outfit I found for the blue. So I completely stole it. Except that my socks are blue. Which I actually quite like.

Today is my day off, and has therefore been my "getting stuff done" day. I am really, really bad at relaxing. After only getting 4 hours sleep on Saturday night, I really needed a day of relaxing, but I just can't do it. I felt so guilty staying in bed until 10, so I've spent my day catching up on emails, writing to-do lists, skyping my Dad, planning articles and blog posts and doing my laundry. I have Monday and Tuesday off, and soon I know I will really appreciate having consecutive days off (I'm planning on traveling as much as possible, so being able to stay the night somewhere will be ideal. Boston is first on my list. 4 hours from New York on the megabus and it's currently $26 return. Bargain), but at the moment I get everything done on Mondays and end up stuck on Tuesdays. I should have a relaxing day watching Dexter in bed before my five day week starts again, but I don't see that happening. I'm going to the mall in the evening, which I'm excited about (I'm finally going to buy the UD Naked palette!) but I'm sure I'll find something fun to do during the day! I think I'm going to the beach next Monday and hopefully by then my new bikini will be here!

That's all from me for today. I've been super-behind on posting lately (I have five sets of photos that still need to go up here. Three sets are from when I was still at home, nearly a month ago. Bad blogger!) but I'm hoping to start posting three days a week- two outfits posts, and my "This week I" post. In an ideal world, I'd blog every day, but I don't think you want to see photos of my lifeguard uniform 5 times a week! Stick around tomorrow though, as I'll be giving away the dress I'm wearing here!
I hope you're having a lovely day!

  3. You should totally do a lifeguard outfit post, or a causal beach day post......maybe not the most fashionable, but it would give a cool glimpse into your Jersey Shore life :)

  7. I'm with Sara above, it would be nice to see one lifeguard post!  I love your hair here, it looks so neat and lush. I keep thinking about dying mine again. I love how rich newly dyed hair is! Hope you are having fun.

  9. Thanks Gwen! And nope, not recently! I lasted dyed it about a month ago! I think it was the sunlight- it brings the red tones out.

  10. Ah you're the second person to ask if I've dyed my hair recently! Nope, it's not been done for about a month now! I think it was the sunlight bringing the red tones out! Thank you though- I've been getting worried recently that I should have stayed blonde! I also thought I made a major mess of my hair yesterday so thanks!
Regarding my lifeguarding uniform, I wear a red baseball cap. I am far too English to pull that off!

  12. Haha you do not want to see my lifeguarding uniform! I like having a uniform so I don't have to think about what to wear, but I cannot pull of the red baseball cap. Far too English!
I'm going to the beach next week though so I'll try to do a relaxed beach-day look. Everything I wear on here though I do wear all day- even if I do look super over-dressed!

  13. This dress is gorgeous!! It looks just amazing with the ankle socks and wedges =D I always worry about wearing ankle socks with dresses/skirts in case they make my legs look short but yours really don't, they look amaaaze! Also I adore that necklace!
Ooh and can't wait to see your bikini, you'd better do a post in, bet it'll look amazing! I have a high-waisted one from Modcloth but not one of the Esther Williams one and I have some photos in it to post from Turkey but I'm a bit scared of posting them haha =D

  14. I definitely love this navy dress. The ruffled detail is gorgeous and it's so flattering on you. I'm loving the ankle socks paired with it. I'm glad you picked the navy one because it looks so nice on you! Plus navy is one of my favorite colors to wear!
